Hey guys,

I'm on my climb up to max, probably 4 months or so off it and I recently maxed my zookas. Took advice off my friend who used tmed to steamroll and it helped leveling up, now I want to focus on operations and more strategy (little late, we all start from somewhere).

I've notice with smokey zooka attacks that critters are way more useful than I ever knew. What I don't understand is why shock them? Yes it holds them in place for things to attack, though can't you put them down to distract, then shock other defences while the initial ones are attacking the critters?

This obviously depends on layout, you would shock if a flamethrower or mortar is in the way, though I'm just asking on a general basis. Does it keep the critters alive longer so things you can't shock keep killing them while the shocked defences are... well... shocked?

I couldn't speak to all strategies for sure. But as a smooka player personally, I pretty much never shock my critters intentionally. But critters are always thrown around 3/4 of the smoke timer while shocks can be thrown slightly later so that both critters and shocks hit at the time that your girls come out of smoke.

Exactly the point to make!
Shock is when you tap the screen, critters lob high into the air, then land.
 Critters first, in my game.

Added: Lately, to conserve gbe, I put a smoke ring nearby my final az landing place just a tick before putting one over the girls.
Then I put critters in the diversion smoke so it lifts just before the girls start shooting. It's an effective tactic to draw fire away on a lot of bases.

Hey Buddy,
I share this opinion with you.......
But sometimes critters needs to be shocked (if thrown on FT/MG etc), as they are only needed for distraction, and they will still be alive to distract fire from other defences.

A player from my second team asked me the same question yesterday. I learned this a long time ago from savagewarrior youtube channel. If you manage to shock your critters just when they land, that's when they are the most spaced out from each other. So, they will live longer and these milliseconds could be the difference between a win or a fail. It depends on the map, but when you have to shock defences that are in between your troops and other defences to distract, it's more efficient to throw your critters at the same spot a bit before shocking. Check this video for more details:

That said though it is only worth doing when it fits with the attack you are doing.  It does not really work well enough that it is worth changing your attack point so that you can shock your critters.   Nor is it worth throwing your cirtters on a bunch of mines or near an unshocked hot pot so that you can shock them.
