Somehow I remembered RLights' little graph having EXP and VP as the variables as opposed to radar level and VP.

While that graph explains how you are matched, it doesn't explain the frequency that you are matched. That's where the radar level comes into play. I wish BB had this kind of information in the app rather than having to rely on the wiki...

I'm at that same point right now, stuck having to get all my XP from armory upgrades until I can upgrade to HQ 19. Although you've been way more ambitious on raising your VP lol.

I was gonna do that too, that's how I started with the alt, but frankly it seemed silly to me to rely on troop upgrades alone to raise exp when it is so much faster to do a bunch of low level defences... Different end goals I assume. I want to get my alt built up to where I can make a fast LB push taking advantage of all of the VP hidden between radar 8 and 20. Wasn't the goal at first, I just wanted to see how far you could go these days with the Klattu strategy, but I got impatient.

Wow, awesome VP for the level! Spock, is your radar maxed? My biggest issue is spawn count.

It wasn't until I was about 400 XP away from being able to upgrade to HQ 17 that I ran out of building upgrades and had to rely solely on armory upgrades. Up until that point i still had building upgrades available by the time i could upgrade my HQ. But the entire second half of the XP needed to go from HQ 17 to 18 came from armory upgrades. And now im in the same predicament again on the way to HQ 19. But the main reason I'm doing this is for the challenge, the pride and the bragging rights. I just wanna be able to say that I made it as far as you can possibly go without building defenses, and that road ends at HQ 19. There's not enough XP available from armory and non-defensive building upgrades at HQ 19 to get to XP 50 so I'll be forced to build defenses at that point.

I want HQ 20 with building as few defences as possible, a few more armoury upgrades will get me to LV47 and HQ19.

That's my plan too. I believe someone posted in GD a few months ago saying that you can get to HQ 20 by building and upgrading just 6 snipers (don't quote me on that though)

Bragging rights are, once you take an overview of everything, the only thing worth persuing. Best of luck!

Yah I remember seeing the calcs about stalling out around HQ19 or 20. Upgrade those lvl 1 cannons! You'll zoom through the exp wall!

(ps or do ft's and mines first. Warrior users will be underenthused.)

Gonna start playing Boom Beach again according to this guide, thanks for the great read. I feel as if I did everything wrong when I was playing this a while back, probably due to my CoC minded way of upgrading...
