Ya...that would be an issue..I'm not sure what to say besides try to clear your map once a day with opp boat..daily boat..and daily chest lined up. Otherwise it will be difficult for sure, even with a RR MP

You don't even need to clear your map every day. Many of the upgrades are 1.5 days or longer.

True but you have to take into account raids. Idk...just my opinion.

That's what I'm taking into account. I'm not going to clear my map unless I'm ready to start the next upgrade.

Right...not always enough on my map for the big one so I like to leave a couple mil to start with. Plus I almost have to clear my map daily for intel so....

The issue would be for people who don't do tons of PVP. This morning I did Dr. T volcano, the couple of Blackguard bases I had, and Warships, no PVP. With a boosted 49% RR, this took me to 2 million and change of wood, stone, and iron. I already have a landing craft upgrading so I didn't need resources, but if I did, I would have had to pull a lot from the resource boat.

People that dont really play the game much, shouldnt be too worried about upgrading. Still not really an issue

Not sure what you consider not playing the game much. I think I play an appropriate amount of time for something that is a fun game, but just a game, and not my only game.

I don't like PVP much because I have to switch from my usual tgmed to warriors, and then I have to retrain lost troops (so I typically don't do two raids back to back). And now that we have warships (which is terrific), I have even less desire to raid people--I maybe raid one or two people a day on average.

I do want all the upgrades though, and the resource boat is a tremendous help for that. I started the 5th landing craft upgrade today. Hopefully the resource boat will hold out for the next 3 landing crafts. Once those are done, I don't mind waiting to upgrade the defenses and storages.

Well, if you're just playing Warships, all main base upgrades matter not at all.
And if you only do DrT, and a couple bases here and there, dont really need upgrades either.

Treating Boom Beach as a builder game can be challenging for a casual player.

Personally, I would not call myself a casual Boom Beach player. Casual is how I play Clash of Clans--9 minutes a day (length of the clock tower boost). But I guess my Boom Beach play is casual compared to the average forum member (though my wife thinks I'm addicted, particular during Mega Crab). I do treat it as a builder game though. I want all the upgrades, even troops I don't use, just because they're there.

So far upgrades for HQ 23 have been just fine though. I've upgraded all landing crafts, several troops, and several defenses, and not once have I not been able to afford an upgrade immediately, even without raiding other players. The resource boat is a tremendous help for "casual" players. When it runs out, I'll be OK with making upgrades more slowly, as the important ones are done.

Since saving up a lot of Powder/Stones it was definitely a wise decision for me to drop Ice temporarily while performing all required upgrades.

Just dropped a BH and BD MP and one BD Guardian, boosted them till the cows come home and it's enough to not only scare off 99% of players but as an added bonus it was enough Defensive boost to re-acquire and hold all RB's on my map.

I'm in the process of remaking the GBE guardians I had to get rid of but having 1200+ Dark Shards I feel there should be at least a few max GBE Guardians in there somewhere.

Ice sure is great not only to ward off the majority of raiders or keep RB's... It helps with VP gain/retention as well.

I'll probably be able to soar up in level now in no time.

I put down ice a while ago and it really appeals to me. Not really with the increased defending (but it is nice) but with the restricted offense, I like a challenge.

I have also been comfortably upgrading everything, almost finished all my armoury upgrades, all landing craft done and probably half my defences. Not really started the storages, this resource reward tribe has been very handy.

I have been short of time to play boom beach and only boost offensively once per day so my vp hasn’t climbed much at all but it hasn’t fallen much either. Just hanging about in the no scroll zone on my local leaderboard. No time for Warships or crab and I can’t really call what I am doing as vp pushing but I am having fun and that is what I am here for so all good 👍🙂

I must be lucky because I have no ice deployed yet I can't recall the last time one of my RBs were attacked. Must be at least 6 months or even longer.

i too think the value of ice is highly overrated in the general player pool.2 ice bases have never slowed me down at all

i have 5 boosted ice and it deters people from attacking at my vp (1450ish) as even if they win they take expensive losses. This means I only have 5 offense statues which I masterpiece boost once per day at the most and less than 5 boosted ice on an opponent base is just a matter of acceptable losses. 5 boosted ice makes me think, 7+ only if I have plenty of gold and expect to lose but it gives me practice.
So yes if you are going to put down ice then put down a lot of ice and boost it. Your base design hardly matters until you put down mass ice.
Of course if you want to play operations at a high level then ice is going to severely curtail your operational capabilities.
Ice also hinders mega crab progress.
On the plus side Hammerman doesn’t need a base redesign and just x4 it.
Just depends how you want to play boom beach.

Edit oh and tribes can make a huge difference...

agreed Crow.
Clearly at 1450+ you're well outside the norm for general player pool!

Guess I'm an odd one, I like attacking iced bases. The more the better. I get more gratification from them, than I do low ice or all offense opponents.
