I was only at 622vp with less than 500pp when I maxed my base. Up until that point I was vp managing. But then I decided to not worry about it. I’d just play however and see what happens. In 1 Year I nearly doubled my vp and quadrupled my pp. Now I’m hovering in the 1415-1430vp range with over 3300pp and lots more in crystals and shards. And all this has been without trying to do a push per se, and I never put out a bunch of PSC although I still have my one MP. I still have no ice down.
I ran primarily warriors up until maxing, which was more boost-dependent. But I started using CRZM primarily as I started to see more shields and ice, and learned smoky HZ core rushes, both of which are very durable against increasingly iced bases, even unboosted a lot of the time. That was the key change I think because instead of automatically boosting 3+ statues to attack once every day I could clear almost everything unboosted and attack throughout the day and save a lot more powder. Now I just take out everything I can unboosted and do the rest on double dip op boosts.
I should also note that I had never been a map clearing player at all until I was around 1150vp. I perpetually kept a handful of PVPs on my map and still my vp shot up fast.
I get matched with global LB players regularly, some of whom are still all-offense or very lightly iced. I’ve only knowingly been blocked by global #2, and finally just had to skip him. I’m starting to feel some resistance now over 1400. I don’t think I could ever reach global without ice. Just placing in my local LB seems more realistic for me. I’m competitive in this range without ice and without using much powder but it’s harder to move up unless your map can stay absolutely clear most of the time despite changing life and tribe conditions. I got Crow’s base this morning and took him out after dropping a few dimes. He’s all offense too, though.
