Crab schedule
« on: Feb 08, 2019, 04:47 PM »
I had commented on Discord, but of course it was buried, so I will repeat my point. For reference, here is an excerpt discussing the monthly Megacrab schedule.
According to the plan, it was announced earlier that Megacarbe was supposed to be the last Friday of every month, but why this month we do not have a full megacab, and the first of MarchCould not I place a megacarb on February 22?[5:22 AM] RickC: Just a short month.[5:23 AM] RickC: So put it to the following weekend[5:23 AM] scipio314 | RDT ♾ | 🦀 wiv a Plan: will there be two crabs in March?[5:23 AM] scipio314 | RDT ♾ | 🦀 wiv a Plan: or next one is first weekend in April?[5:24 AM] RickC: I don’t have my computer at the moment. But I believe it is weekend of March[9:34 AM] Rifleman: Hi @RickC , Can you confirm what will be dates for nexts Mega Crabs? I mean those after this coming 1-3 of March What is the rule? I thought that always start last Friday of the month, but there will be not February Crab  so I'm confiusedCan we expect 2 Mega Crabs in March? 1-3 and 29-31 of March?[11:47 AM] RickC: Mega crabs will continue. Feb is a short month and then we would have had to have waited for a much longer time to have one. @RiflemanLooking back at the previous dates for Crabs, there has always been either 25 or 32 days from the end of one Crab to the start of the next. Which makes sense because of the way our calendar works. For some strange reason, Supercell decided that because February is a shorter month, they should skip it and have a 32 day break. Which means two Crabs in March with 25 days between. The logic escapes me, especially Ricks final comment, "much longer time". There are two possibilities in the cycle, 25 or 32 days. To me it seems much more logical that the short month of February would have the shorter break, and the longer month of March would have the longer break.

So if they'd held crab on Feb 22nd as expected, we would've had to wait 35 days til 3/29 March Crab. But by pushing February crab to 3/1, we'll have had to wait 33 days for that. I'm not sure if the 2 whole days of savings is worth all the confusion and distress it might cause.

No, I think you are misunderstanding what I am pointing out.

Crab always starts on Friday, which up until this month has always been the last Friday of the month.

With the 11 monthly crabs thus far, there have been either 3 or 4 Fridays between Crabs.

If they had followed the normal schedule, February crab would've been after a 3 Friday wait and March a 4 Friday wait.

Instead they delayed Feb crab into March, so we have a 4 Friday wait and then a 3 Friday wait. The net outcome is the same, it just seems like Supercell moved it back needlessly.

Possible reasons I see are either Supercell doesn't understand how calendars work or they are planning something different starting in March. Apparently the Piggy Crab is the last one in the existing coding, so possibly they are waiting for Warship update.

Personally, I think the "confusion about calendar mechanics" is equally likely explanation.

Hehe guess I have a little more (only a little though) faith in Supercells ability to use calendars 🤪

I base my lack of faith on Rick's explanation,
"Feb is a short month and then we would have had to have waited for a much longer time to have one"
It seems by "much longer time" he means the same amount of time as between crabs in June, August and November.

We are saying the same thing in essence. I was just measuring it in number of days instead of Fridays. In any event they should've just stayed on schedule. It's needless in my book too. Warship Crab?

Agreed on staying on schedule.
just not sure where you were getting the 2 days difference? Delaying a week, by definition would add 7 days to the wait time.

They are just swapping the 33 and 26 day wait times around but we'll still have a 26 and a 33 day wait between crabs. The question is why bother unless there's some pressing reason to. I wonder if they have a history of releasing updates on the last week of the month or something.

Now we are on the same page. Wasn't sure how you were coming up with 2 days difference. Swapping the shorter/longer wait seems to be because Rick doesn't understand how calendar works.
