Have enjoyed the time on this forum and recently found myself thinking about why this forum reboot has not gone down the same path that the old forum did, even with a lot of the same people having transitioned over.
What I am referring to is the toxicity of the old SC managed forum. It was campy. It was frustrating. It was biased. On the old forum, I spoke openly of how I believed that moderation was killing the old forum.
As I think about how this forum reboot has evolved, the differences are many. I say this in a good way. And again I think it comes down to how the forum is moderated. We have the same forum rules, but we do not have the same dysfunction.
I believe that the moderators of the old forum were a very big part of the dysfunction. They openly chose sides, let their “power” go to their heads, and many of them operated as if being a volunteer moderator on the SuperCell forum was the pinnacle achievement of their lives. I think the way those moderators operated helped to drive people to the very behaviors that those moderators claimed to want to prevent. After all what good is it having an Axe if you never get to use it?
My point in all of this is that this forum reboot in my opinion is everything that I always thought the old forum could be: a community of diverse ideas that are allowed to flourish. I think this is a testament to the moderators. It seems to me the moderators here are doing it for the love of the game, not to get their Machiavellian power jollies.
Fritzelly, thank you for doing this. Without your generosity, this forum would not exist. To all who help run this forum, thank you for being even handed and fair minded.
I will probably drop by occasionally just to keep track of what is going on in the game, but my game has ended.
